I am one of those travelers that likes to know the movies filmed in their destination spots. It's fun to see how different the location actually is from the movie. I am from New Orleans, lived in various towns in Florida, Seattle, New York, and now on Oahu, so exploring movie locations is easy. I recently took a friend on Elvis Presley movie sites ending with the statute at the Blaisdell and always take folks up to Turtle Bay (location of Forgetting Sarah Marshall and a few episodes of Las Vegas).

    Hi Liz,
Thanks for your comment. I love that movie "Forgetting Sarah Marshall"! Did you know that the boyfriend Peter in that movie wrote the movie and a lot of the songs in it? The flapper scene totally caught me off guard. How do you like living in Hawaii?
  • If I'd have a vacation in Myrtle Beach, I wouldn't choose to go to the movies. There are plenty of other things to do there.

    Hi Andrea,

Thanks for your reply. How do you like Myrtle Beach and what are your favorite things to do there? I'd love to hear your thoughts in a review about MB. Here is a link, if you're interested -

The blog post was about movies that inspire people to visit vacation spots like Myrtle Beach and South Carolina, not about going to the movies while you're at a vacation spot. The film directors have the best cameras and are pros at capturing the best aspects of a vacation spot. In part 2 of the blog post, which is not yet released, one of the movies actually fought with another nearby state to have their vacation spots featured just because they know what a big deal it is to attract tourism.

    Best,

    Caroline
