When it comes to selecting a high end Martha’s Vineyard vacation rental, the Obamas did not let politics stand in the way!

During their summer vacation this week, the president, first lady Michelle and their two daughters, Sasha and Malia, are staying at the Blue Heron Farm, a 28-acre waterfront estate owned by William Van Devender, a Mississippi timber merchant who supported Republican John McCain.

Located on Martha’s Vineyard’s rural west end, in an area called Chilmark, the estate was purchased by Van Devender for $20 million in 2005.  The estate sports a main house, guest quarters, swimming pool, a golf tee and basketball court.

How presidential that the president stay in anything less than what Chilmark is best known for:  the highest property values in the United States.  Chilmark is also a fave vacation spot for the rich and famous including Jackie Onassis, who loved to vacation in the nearby Aquinnah.

Let it all hang loose

Fun things to do include visiting a nearby nude beach.   A-hem!  Yes.  That’s right – Lucy Vincent Beach – is well known for seeing people splashing around in their birthday suits!  Martha’s Vineyard is abuzz with the Obamas’ arrival and it has been reported that Martha’s Vineyard vacation rental bookings are up this week.  Even local food items are being renamed like “Obama-tacos.”

Do we think that the vacation might be topped off with a presidential bottom under an umbrella like this guy?  Well……we’ll see.  Or will we?
