During the Americas Real Estate Expo, we toured vacation homes in Bavaro on the East coast of the Dominican Republic, just north of Punta Cana.

We took a tour of this Bavaro vacation home golf-beach community – called “Roco Ki.”

Next door to the new Westin hotel due for completion in 2010, these vacation homes are are luxury, high end homes with a view of the golf course on one side and beach on the other. Ocean front lots run $2 million on up. Roco Ki is selling lots to developers and focusing its development efforts on the hotels – the Westin, Fairmont, and 3rd high end hotel – to be determined. We looked at a 1 bedroom villa which will rent for roughly $700 per night.

Roco Ki is situated on some interesting terrain with cliffs hugging the golf course and Westin. Pristine beaches – 7 miles of soft white sand – lining the remainder of the property on the other side. Its got very interesting layout and master plan and offers a nice contrast to Cap Cana, also a luxury development to the south of Punta Cana.

A 40-minute drive from the Punta Cana airport, Roco Ki is more remote than Cap Cana, which is next door to Punta Cana. Roco Ki has a nice community feel to it – or at least that’s what the master plan seems to convey, whereas Cap Cana is more spread out. From front gate to south side of the property, Cap Cana is built for the car. It takes at least 30 minutes to drive across Cap Cana, whereas Roco Ki has more of a walk around community with 3 luxury hotels nestled as “anchors” on each end and the Westin at the center, each serving different parts of the community.

Stay tuned to see some of the amazing footage of its award winning golf course and heavenly beach views!
