Rather than going to a nice restaurant in Philly, Ann, a close and dear friend of mine, wanted to celebrate her 50th in Provence with the girls!  So, eight girlfriends embarked on “Le Tour de Provence.”  Difficult as it is to narrow down, here are our Top Travel Tips when visiting Provence, France:

Rent cars with GPS – We named the GPS Bridgette!  Even when Bridgette didn’t cooperate, we just couldn’t get lost – every road led to an incredible sight.

Visit the larger cities – Our favorites were LaCoste, Gordes, Bonnieux, Roussillon, Les Baux, and St. Remy.  The crazy narrow streets, stone walls, doorways, and shuttered windows were so charming and every turn offered a new photo-op.  The views of distant villages and the valleys were breath-taking as well.

Plan to shop – Make as many stops as necessary – you’ll never tire (your wallet might though so bring lots of cash).

Learn a little French – The locals really appreciate it and you’ll enjoy a good laugh.

Cassis - Take a 2 hour drive to Cassis on the Mediterranean (closer than Cannes) to get a taste of the French Riviera, although maybe not as posh.

Sea of Purple – The lavender fields near Sault are an amazing sight if you time your trip right.  And find a spot overlooking a field for a picnic.

AND FINALLY… Our Number One Tip on Provence, France –

Go with great friends and this year, rent an apartment in one of the perched villages, not just for a week, but for the whole summer!
