#1 Tourist Destination?

#1 tourist destination in the world? Nope, not Disney. Paris. And not the replica Eiffel Tower on the Las Vegas strip. Paris, as in Paris, France, the City of Lights (la Ville Lumiere), the most romantic city in the world, a city of 12 million dissected by the Seine.

Museums: the best in the world. Hint #1: grab a Paris Museum Pass, which gives you access to over 70 museums (and monuments) around town, including the Musee D’Orsay (19th century), The Louvre (I think there’s a few famous paintings in there), and my favorite, Musee de l’Orangerie (impressionist). Hint #2: all national museums are open free of charge the first Sunday of each month.

Sights: the best in the world. Of course, the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and the Sacre Coeur, but don’t forget the less touristy jewels like the Catacombs (tip: not for claustrophobics), Saint Chapelle (way more beautiful than Notre Dame) and Arenes de Lutece (you can play “boules” here).

Food: the best in the world (well, second only to Lyon, but who knows where that is?). Just walk around (or better yet, take a Fat Tire Bike Tour) until you find something that catches your eye; it’s going to be good. A personal favorite for the sweet tooth: Gerard Mulot on the rue de Seine.

Getting around: easy! Walk, Metro, or if you are slightly more daring and want to do like the Parisians do, roller blade. Yes, blades are quickly becoming the most popular mode of transportation in the heart of the city (good exercise, and your less likely to get pick pocketed.)

All of this, but where to stay? That’s where Viscape comes in. Check out these awesome Paris, France vacation homes and get ready to “surfer la vague” (ride the wave).
