Share an experience from, or “write a review!” of, a place where you have traveled on vacation in 150 words or less. You can be funny.  You can tell a story.  But most importantly, the experience should be yours and it must be authentic and told from your own point of view.  We recommend including pictures and videos of your trip to help share your story, but this is not necessary to win.

Ahh!…The Prizes…

Should you win, you will get a once in a lifetime experience of being a travel writer.

1st place: All expenses paid for experience as a travel writer to Key West or Belize

2nd place: Housing and meal expenses paid for experience as a travel writer to an East Coast destination (examples listed below)

The grand prize 1st place winner will get to go on a market launch with Viscape to one of two choice destinations - Key West or Belize.  This is an all-expenses-paid-trip where you will experience being a travel writer in a destination and work with the media and write about the area.  You will have many opportunities to write stories and create videos of your experience.  Viscape will assist with working with local and international media to get you recognized and published.  Viscape also will throw a dinner party in the winner’s honor on location!

The 2nd place winner will get to go on a market launch with Viscape to an east coast destination. (Housing and some meals included)  The destination might be: Cape Cod/Nantucket, Outer Banks-North Carolina, Miami or the Hamptons.  This person will have an opportunity to write stories and work with the media-a similar experience as the grand prize winner-including the dinner party!

To submit your Travel Stories and Reviews follow the simple guidelines below:

  • 1.) Go to www.Viscape.com to set up a profile
  • 2.) Select a destination and write a story or review on www.Viscape.com
  • 3.) Write as many stories or reviews as you like-this will increase your chances of winning
  • 4.) Stories/reviews should be thoughtful, authentic and from the heart
  • 5.) Viscape would like to know as much about the author as possible. We encourage you to complete your personal profile with interesting facts, background info, and so on.

Entering to win is easy and fun!

  • 1) The Review must be 150 words or less. Submissions greater than 150 words will not be eligible.
  • 2) Unlimited number of Submissions, as long as they are authentic. There is no limit to the number of submissions a participant can write. Multiple submissions will enhance your ability to win. Reviews must be based on real experiences. If Viscape is getting feedback or complaints from a participant writing bogus stories this participant risks disqualification.
  • 3) Submissions must be written and published directly onto Viscape.com under the destination for which the Review is being written. Viscape currently covers approximately 50 destinations, most of which are in the U.S. There is no formal requirement for entering the contest. You just merely create a profile and start publishing on the Viscape site.
  • 4) A Submitters profile must be completed to provide background information on the writer
  • 5) Deadline: The contest winner will be announced after August 15th, 2008, which is the contest deadline. The first 1000 reviews on the site qualify to win, so it is to your advantage to publish your review on the site as early as possible. The 1001st review onward will not qualify for this particular contest, but may be recognized by Viscape in some fashion. Reviews must be published on the site by no later than August 15, 2008. If for some reason Viscape does not have 1000 reviews on its site by the August 15th deadline, the contest will continue until there are at least 1000 reviews posted on the site.
  • 6) Pictures & Video clips help. Accompanying your review with a picture or short video clip (no more than 3 minutes) can only help you tell your story and may increase your chances of winning.
  • 7) Opinions from other site users matter. Site users can rate your review as “Useful” or “Disagree.” High rankings will enhance your standing in the judges’ decision making process.
  • 8) Flagged Reviews. If your Review is flagged for legitimacy purposes and removed from the site, this unfortunately disqualifies your review. If you re-write your review as a quality, helpful insight into a destination, your review may re-qualify for the contest.
  • 9) Contest Updates. Watch for updates about the contest standings on http://blog.viscape.com and newsletters. The Viscape staff will be providing regular updates of contest standings throughout the summer, so good luck! May the best Travel Writer/Reviewer win!!!!

Everybody wins!

Participating in this contest qualifies you to become a Viscape champion - or “Viscaper” - in which you will have opportunities to join Viscape’s elite group of travelers and be invited to parties, launch events and other opportunities that will be offered through Viscape.  We want to provide a platform that enables fellow travelers to connect and share ideas about where to go and what to do with friends around vacation homes!

DISCLAIMER: Contest candidate must be over the age of 18.  There will only be one winner for first place and one winner for second place. Contest candidate cannot be a Viscape employee or a Viscape employee family member. Contest winners will be selected at the sole discretion of Viscape staff.  Other restrictions may apply.
